AVPA Art Exhibition, “ROOM 1” at Culver City Art Walk 2016
50 visual art students from The Culver City High School Academy of Visual and Performing Arts are buzzing with excitement as they prepare for their exhibition, “ROOM 1” at the Culver City Art Walk 2016 on Saturday, October 8th from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. at a pop-up gallery located at 8575 Washington Blvd. in the famed Culver City Arts District. The pop-up will be a shared gallery space with The Global Trunk.
Culver City Art Walk 2016 is intended to introduce a wider audience to the area’s established art scene which includes spaces in Culver City as well as along its Los Angeles border. This event especially celebrates the Culver City Art District, a cluster of galleries exhibiting emerging and established artists.
AVPA Art students are submitting piece after piece since they will, for the first time, be able to showcase their art in Culver City Art Walk 2016 for all of Culver City to see. 4th year AVPA Art, Senior Harper Barth, shares her enthusiasm, “I am so excited to exhibit artwork in a unique and creative space for the first time and to be part of the celebration of Art in Culver City. This is a huge honor and hope it will lead to great opportunities in the future”.
Ranging in medium from book arts to drawing and painting, the public will be treated to an industrial space transformed into a pop-up art gallery filled with artwork of every kind. Freshman AVPA Artist, Amalia Camey, would like to add, “The Art Walk will be great for teens trying to earn some recognition. Being able to show our artwork to the world is amazing since we are high school students. I never thought my art would be shown in a “gallery” setting. Senior Katie Handler recounts, “I feel Culver City Art Walk is a fun and valuable learning experience I will never forget”.
The AVPA Art Department would like to express our deepest gratitude and a very special thank you to Noah Baylin, Fresh Paint Art Advisors owner Josetta Speglia, Graphaids, and The City of Culver City.
