AVPA Theatre at 2015 DTASC Festival

Claire Skelley, President of Blurred Vision Theatre Company

Last weekend, many members of AVPA’s Blurred Vision Theatre Company attended the Fall 2015 DTASC Festival (Drama Teachers Association of Southern California) in Downtown Los Angeles. The scenes and monologists we entered into this year’s festival were some of the best we’ve had. The Sweeney Todd musical scene (directed by Paxton Amor, Claire Skelley and Sarah Toutounchian) won 5th place in the musical category and our whole company was ecstatic! Mika Barocio, one of our two monologists won an Honorable Mention. Khamiya Terrel, our other monologist, and our foreign scene (directed by Elise Park and Reno Behnken) made it to semi-finals. We also entered a comedic scene directed by Celine Cuadra and Bella Chardiet and a dramatic scene directed by Gabe Lobet and Owen Jones. Congratulations to everyone who competed! This festival was one we will never forget and we are all so grateful to have had the opportunity to go together. Until next time!
