The Culver City High School Academy of Visual and Performing Arts presents our annual Fall Music Concert and Halloween Carnival on Thursday, October 26. The Halloween Carnival will begin at 6:00pm in the Rotunda Room at Veterans Memorial Building (4117 Overland Ave). The Music Concert will begin at 7pm in the Auditorium.
The Halloween Carnival will feature games and trick-or-treating candy and prizes for our younger guests (middle school age and under preferably). Come in costume and bring your trick-or-treat bag to celebrate Halloween early!
The AVPA Clarinet Ensemble and Flute Ensemble will entertain guests during the Carnival hour with performances in the lobby outside the Rotunda Room and Auditorium.
The concert features the Culver High Concert Band and String Orchestra, along with the AVPA Orchestra, Chamber Singers, Jazz Ensemble, and Jazz Combo.
The program includes American folk songs performed by the Chamber Singers, Halloween favorites by the String Orchestra, and original (and spooky) music by the Concert Band. The AVPA Orchestra performs Andante Festivo by Jan Sibelius. The Jazz Ensemble will feature classics Mack the Knife and Ain’t Misbehavin’. They will also perform Cool from “West Side Story” in honor of the worldwide centennial celebrations of Leonard Bernstein and his music.
Admission is free. Donations are happily accepted! Concessions will be available for purchase before and during the concert.
