    The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

    AUDITION INSTRUCTIONS

    FIRST READS: Tuesday January 9th or Wednesday January 10th
    Sign up for a ten minute time slot.

    CALL BACKS: Thursday January 11th. 3:15-6:15pm
    You will be assigned to the first or second half.

    The cast list will be posted on the call board Friday, January 12th at lunch.

    Read the script and listen to the music.

    Acting Audition – Please choose a character you would like to read for and memorize their side of the audition scene listed under their name. For example, if you would like to read for CONEYBEAR, you will memorize his lines from “Coneybear Sides.pdf” sides (available in Google Drive).

    Music Audition – Please memorize measures 4-45 from “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” (sheet music & backing track available in Google Drive). If you are auditioning for a main character, please review the Audition Song sheet and be prepared to sing for any role.

    Read the rehearsal schedule & production contract carefully—if you have conflicts, we must discuss them in advance. YOUR PARENTS MUST SIGN BEFORE YOU AUDITION!!! (you must also sign)

    Please do not wait until the last minute to prepare for this audition.

    Important Information About Call Backs:

    Know the story of the play very well.

    Be prepared to improvise.
    Be prepared to spell. Study list: https://www.vocabulary.com/lists/269320
    Be prepared to learn parts and sing in harmony.

    Please review the Audition Song Doc (in the Google Drive) and be prepared to sing for any role.

    If you have questions about any of the audition, rehearsal, or production processes, please ask.
