For the first time in AVPA’s 19-year existence, a production that involves all five of our departments will also involve the entire building that we call “home.” The Robert Frost Auditorium is where many of our classes, workshops, meetings, and performances have taken place over the years. Students have spent countless hours studying, rehearsing, working, building, eating, sleeping, and performing in the building. Our “Big Show” will give the audience a chance to experience various works by all five departments throughout the many areas of the building, especially those never used for performance before.

Art

Visual art students have been collaborating with music department composers to create 10 installations that will be on view during the evening. 9 location-based pieces, as well as 1 mobile piece/student, will highlight various areas of the building.

Dance

Dance will perform pieces from the stage, the orchestra pit, from within the audience and lighting booth, the lobby and ticket booth, as well as upstairs in the makeup/dressing room area.

Film

Film will create installations in a hallway, restrooms, and stairwells.

Theatre

Balconies in the scene shop will transform into performance spaces for scenes from classic theatrical productions. A collaboration with the Rogue Artists Ensemble will present a Greek-inspired performance from the orchestra pit.

Music

Collaborating with the visual artists, composers have created soundscapes for 10 installations. Roving musicians will also pop-up and perform, as well as entertaining during the reception.
