Since the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year, the students of AVPA film and Ms. Butler's Film III/IV class worked diligently on their short narrative films and documentaries. They took part in the entire filmmaking process from pitching and screenwriting to principal production (filming) and post production (editing). In March, the film students were granted the privilege of screening four of their short films and three of their documentaries in Sony Pictures' Novak Theatre for an audience of two hundred friends and family. The four short films produced by AVPA included Body Language, Happy Place, The Circle and Luna. In addition, the students screened three documentaries; Diversity, Open Closet Policy and Trademark Sound. All of the films reflected the immense amount of time and effort the students put in to their work. The student are so thrilled to work collaboratively with the AVPA music students who created original scores for their films. This aspect of the filmmaking process is truly rewarding. They are also very grateful to Sony and the Front and Center Theatre Collaborative for providing many workshops and support throughout the whole process. And, lastly we could not have made it through the year without our teachers, especially visiting teacher Joel Juarez, and our families. We love you!
