The Spring Dance Concert, “Pushing The Envelope,” performed in April, made another huge splash with audiences. A variety of dances were presented that were toe-tapping and hand clapping, thought-provoking, and some that were a bit chilling. The evening featured a giant envelope, that’s right, a giant envelope that was rolled on to the stage at the top of the show and remained on the stage throughout the evening. At times, the envelope was used as an entry way for dancers who rolled, jumped, and skipped their way onto the stage.
After intermission, audiences were treated to beautiful works performed both in the back of the auditorium and in the control booth, choreographed by students Justin Pineda and Kirthi Rao. These works were originated for AVPA’s December Big Show, and made their encore performance in the dance concert.
Anyone who missed this fabulous performance will get to see a handful of the dances re-staged in the Kirk Douglas Theatre for Java Gala on June 6! Don’t miss this opportunity to see the dances and the rest of the talented AVPA present this end-of-the-year, one-of-a-kind performance!
