The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey

On January 29th twelve members of the Blurred Vision Theater Company went to the Kirk Douglas Theater to watch a marvelous one act, one-man show called The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey. The play is about a murder investigation of a 14-year-old boy, Leonard Pelkey, who is brutally murdered for openly being himself and embracing it. This story takes place in a small town in New Jersey. In this town we see the writer/actor James Lecesne portray an array of characters from a hardened New Jersey detective to an abrasive, yet kindhearted hairdresser mom. The characterizations, scenic design, sound, and delivery was stunning. After the play there was a talk back and some of the BVTC members got to ask Lecesne questions. Overall it was a great time! We later took a group picture with Lecesne in the KDT lobby. The Blurred Vision Theater Company is grateful to have witnessed such an insightful performance and we are grateful for receiving the free tickets from Center Theatre Group and The Kirk Douglas Theatre; huge thanks to Heather Moses and The Front and Center Theatre Collaborative for making it happen!
