AVPA/CTE Music Technology department was founded in 2020. The Music Technology program at Culver City High School is divided into both CTE and AVPA classes, and provides a comprehensive curriculum that integrates daily practice with the tools and techniques of music production. Under the guidance of composer and music educator Jack Aron, students dive deep into various aspects of music technology, including digital audio workstations, sound design, mixing, mastering, and much more. Through state-of-the-art equipment and software, students gain practical skills in all the ways to "make music" (albeit primarily digitally).
On the CTE side, classes are organized into a pathway that leads to certification, and contain a larger focus on establishing a career within the music industry. These classes include:
Introduction to Music Technology (or Music Production I)
Advanced Electronic Composition (or Music Production II)
A 3rd and 4th year continuation course is in development, currently titled "Music Production Studio".
In the AVPA department, the music technology classes offer more specialized training, and include:
